From an insider, the point of view I have on this is now based on a solid foundation. True, I’m not fully qualified, nor have I been in the profession for long but I still feel this is something that needs to be commented on.
Teaching professionals have as an act of honour, personal respect and integrity to uphold certain levels and standards. We have to ensure that we safeguard, that we protect, that every child matters. These elements, along with the continued professional development, training and progression make teaching the interesting, unique career it is.
The outcome with the published story of Neil Giffin, is that the outcome contradicts everything that is a teacher. The respect for every child matters, the protection, the care and the trust placed in him as a professional has gone forever.
